Betty Charlyne Petitjean

June 30, 1943 - November 25, 2020

Betty Charlyne Petitjean, 77, of Goetzville passed away at home on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, surrounded by her loving family after bravely fighting a battle with multiple myeloma. She was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Ima Jean (Jeanne) and Ernest A. Morrison on June 30, 1943. She was lovingly raised by her stepfather, Col. John F. Mullaney, and as an adult, she came to know and love Ernest (Rose) and their children. Betty leaves behind a legacy of generously given love, kindness, and support, especially with her family. She was deeply devoted to her husband and loved him fiercely. Betty genuinely cared for people and ALWAYS made time for anyone who needed her. She had a smile that would light up the room, and she absolutely loved to laugh and to make others laugh. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was treasurer for the AMVETS Ladies' Auxiliary. A bookkeeper by trade, she loved exercising her creative side by painting and doing embroidery. Betty loved camping and always said she felt closer to God at her campsite than at church. Wherever their travels took Betty and George, she forged and maintained special friendships. Betty took great joy from her dogs. Those that predecease her are too many to name, but she is survived by Panda, Lucy, and Charlie. Betty was an incredibly special soul and we will all miss her beautiful smile. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, George H. R. Petitjean, who she lovingly called "Dammit, George!", children Stephanie (Richard) Brown, Daphne Petitjean, George (Lisa) Petitjean, and Betsey (Ryan) Kernan, her siblings Rhonda (Joe) Morrison Spellman, and Larry (Pam) Morrison, eleven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, and they all know they were the light of her life. She is predeceased by her parents, Jean and Col. John F. Mullaney, and Ernie and Rose "Fuzz" Morrison, and by her brother John Mullaney. Due to COVID-19, there will be no funeral. The family will host a celebration of Betty's life in the summer of 2021 or as soon as it is safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Hospice of the Eastern U.P. in her name. 308 W 12th Ave, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783
