Carrie Alice McAdam Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Carrie Alice McAdam, a long-time resident of DeTour Village, died on February 22, 2023, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, at the age of 95. She was born on February 9, 1928, on Drummond Island to the late Floyd and Emma (Solmonson) Seaman. Carrie spent her youth between Drummond Island and DeTour with her family. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald McAdam, on October 24, 1947, after he returned home from deployment. The couple never strayed far from their hometown and raised their two sons, Donald and Brian there. Carrie and Donald often traveled out west for vacations or to visit Don’s Navy buddies. Carrie enjoyed gardening, fishing, and snowmobiling, as well as quilting, knitting, and crocheting. Most of all, Carrie adored being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Carrie is survived by her sons. Donald G McAdam of Detour and Brian (Pamela) McAdam of DeTour; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ron) Papin of DeTour and Jessica (Leon) McAdam of Marquette, Michigan; great-grandchildren, Christy (Jesse) Papin, Kimberly Papin, Ronald Papin, Timothy Papin, and Tiffany Papin; great-great-grandchildren, Darren Fravala and Dustin Fravala; sisters, Sally Socia of Drummond Island and Betsy Price of Lake Leelanau, Michigan, as well as many nieces and nephews. Carrie is preceded in death by her husband, Donald McAdam; brothers and sisters, and her parents. Visitation will be held Monday, February 27, 2023, at Galer Funeral Homes from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
