Lois Catherine Tassier

December 18, 1928 - March 10, 2022

Lois Catherine (Hewer) Tassier, age 93, passed away at her home in Cedarville, Michigan, on March 10, 2022. She was born on December 18, 1928, in Pickford, Michigan to parents William Benfield and Sue Maude (Crawford) Hewer. Lois grew up in Pickford and graduated from Pickford High School in 1946 and married Everett Leo Tassier. Together, they made their home on Hill Island in Cedarville in 1947 and raised their family there. In 1974, she began working as a bookkeeper at the Tassier Boat Works and retired in 1994. Lois was a member of First Union Church and very active in the Mary Martha Circle at the church. She helped work on many church projects and helped host community dinners. Lois loved knitting, traveling, and collecting teddy bears. She was a fan of the Detroit Red Wings and enjoyed watching the local Cedarville sports games, especially basketball. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always happy to spend time with her family. Lois is survived by her children, Gary (Anne) Tassier of Cedarville and Kimberly (Jay) Mumper of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Troy (Mary Beth) Tassier, Stephanie (Tim) Surine, Sarah (Cierra Felix) Mumper and Luke Mumper; great grandchildren, Katherine Tassier, Nicholas Tassier, Samuel Surine and Christopher Surine; and many nieces and nephews. Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Everett; siblings, William (Cleo) Hewer, Nona (Gerald) McCord, and Vernon (Elsie) Hewer; and brother-in-law, Marvin (Muriel) Tassier. Memorial Gathering will be held on March 21, 2022, from10:00 A.M. till 12:00 Noon at First Union Church, in Cedarville, with the service to begin at 12:00 Noon. Burial will be at Cedar Cemetery in Cedarville, Michigan. Memorials may be made to the Mary Martha Circle, c/o First Union Church, PO Box 426, Cedarville, MI 49719.
