February 2, 1944 - March 26, 2022
Lovida Igo, age 78, of Pickford, Michigan, passed away at MyMichigan Health Center in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, on March 26, 2022. She was born in Caruthersville, Missouri on February 2, 1944, to Cecil and Alma Flossy Mae (Lee) Hughes. Lovida grew up in Caruthersville, where she attended Caruthersville Schools and helped around her home. It was in Caruthersville where Lovida met Dennis Michael Igo, while he spent time there with the United States Coast Guard. They married on May 8, 1971, in Caruthersville. Together, they raised four children. As a Coast Guard family, they moved all around United States, eventually landing in St. Ignace, Michigan, where they retired in 1994. Lovida enjoyed doing puzzles, watching the Hallmark Channel, her soap operas, and NASCAR. She also enjoyed watching animals; her favorites being deer, ducks, and birds. She loved to cook, especially southern cuisines, as well as bake, and was known for her brownies, carrot cake, and Strudels. However, her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family and her grandchildren, as well as her beloved dog, Abby. Lovida is survived by her daughters, Rhonda (James) Smith of Colma, Michigan, Donna (Todd) Nyberg of Pickford, Michigan, and Kay (Dave) Crimin of Sault Ste Marie, Michigan; and one son, Michael “Scott” Igo of Sault Ste Marie; her grandchildren, Heather (Danny) Baker, Brian (Adaira) Smith, Mark Nyberg, Joe (Nell) Nyberg, Kacey (Ben) Pope, Joshua Nyberg, Jacob Rahko, Joshua Horn, Caleb Horn, Zane (McKenzie) Igo, and Miranda Igo. Also, her great grandchildren, Dillon, Heaven, Kisstenna, Taylor, Cayden, Logan, Maizie, Delilah, Abigail, Embyr, Mason; and one great-great-granddaughter, Hazel; her dear sisters, Kay Hughes of Caruthersville and Tina Womack of Blue Strings, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Paulette Hughes of Brunswick, Georgia, Joyce (Davie) Olsen of Port Wing, Wisconsin, and Bea Igo of Ashland, Wisconsin as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lovida is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Igo; her parents, Cecil and Jean Hughes and Alma and Grady Baggett; and her brother, Doyle Hughes. Graveside Service and Burial will take place at Herbster Community Cemetery in Clover, Wisconsin, at a later date. Though she will be terribly missed, her family takes great solace knowing that she is at peace and reunited with her dear “Den,” once again. Memorials may be donated to the Hospice of EUP, 308 W. 12th Ave, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783 or the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
