Robert G. McNamee Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Robert G. McNamee, 88 of St.Ignace passed away late Sunday evening January 21 at Mackinac Straits Hospital, He was born May 8,1929 in Ishpeming to Joseph and Myrtle Marion (Halstead) McNamee. He was a veteran of the Korean War, and served 6 months and 6 days, from April 1951 to November 1951. He worked as a Marine Oiler/ Electrician on the State Ferry Boats, and was employed as an Engineer until November 1957, and then went on the Chief Wawatam for 15 yrs, also as an Engineer. He is a faithful member of St.Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church and , the St. John Neuman Mens Club. He and his wife wintered in Lakeland, Florida for many years, until poor health for Carla caused them to stay home. On January 25,1951 he married Carla Hagen, and she survives. Also ten children; William (Shishi) McNamee, St.Ignace; Daniel McNamee, Sacramento, CA; Gerald McNamee, Pickford; David (Elizabeth) McNamee, Marquette; James (Janet) McNamee, Cheboygan; Jill (John) Krentz, Rudyard; Susan (Daryl) Huffmann, St.Ignace; Judy (James) Orriss, St.Ignace; Theresa, (Bruce) Spencer, Trout Lake; Robin (Stephen) Vaughn, Williamston,MI; a brother, James and Karin McNamee, Sun City, Arizona; 8 grandsons and 15 granddaughters; 31 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son,Michael in 2004 and 2 grandsons, Danny and Andy McNamee. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, January 26 at 11 am at ST.Ignatius Church in ST.Ignace with Fr. Frank Ricca and Deacon Tom McCleland officiating. Burial will be in ST.Ignatius Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be from 10 am to service time at the church. Pallbearers will be David McNamee; Daniel McNamee; Jimmie Orriss; James McNamee; Bruce Spencer, and Gerald McNamee. Dodson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
