Mona Jean Thompson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mona Jean Thompson, age 96, of Pickford, Michigan, died on June 4, 2022, at MyMichigan Health Center in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. She was born on November 26, 1925, in Sault Ste Marie, to John Roland and Janet Marie (Green) Staley. Mona grew up in Sault Ste. Marie and attended Sault Area Schools. She met Cecil “Pete” Thompson and they married on December 9, 1944, at the Sault Presbyterian Church. They lived in Willow Run, Michigan, where Pete worked for the fire department at the local airport, where damaged planes returned during World War II. After the war, they returned to Pickford and raised their family of four boys. Mona was a member of the Pickford Presbyterian Church. Mona and Pete loved camping at Grand Maris, Michigan, with their family and friends and especially with the Good Sam’s Club. Mona is survived by her sons, David (Linda) Thompson of Pickford, Gene (Jane) Thompson of Marne, Michigan, and Jack (Marcy) Thompson of Cedarville, Michigan; grandchildren, Candace (Larry) Warner, Cheri (Scott) Skinner, Trisha (Zac) Jennings, Wendy (Dave) Antcliff, Debra Thompson, Laura (Allen) Scheidel, Jennifer Thompson, and Michael (Jane) Thompson; great grandchildren, Cassaundra (Chris), Jillian (Alex), Jacob, Adam, Christopher, Benjamin, Kyra, Griffin, Samuel, Josh, Allen, Isabelle, Dahlia, Michael, and Andie; and great-great-grandchildren, Adrian, Kaden, Riley, and Miles. Mona is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil “Pete” Thompson; son, Larry Thompson; and brother, Gordon Staley. A private family graveside service will be held at Cottle Cemetery in Marquette Township in Mackinac County in Pickford. Memorials can be made to the Pickford Presbyterian Church, P.O.
