Ruth Edith Orlich Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ruth Edith Orlich, 80 of St.Ignace passed away Sunday, January 24 at her home following a lingering illness. She was born January 10,1936 in Marinette, Wisc. to Capt. Carl Peter and Mary Louise (St.Louis) Everson. She graduated from high school and married Donald Wartella in 1959. He died in 1979, and she married John Orlich on March 20,1982 at Immacualete Conception Church in Moran. John died on September 12,1988.Ruth was very active at the Moose Lodge with dinners and any doings that had food, including funeral lunches.She loved playing cards with friends, and did so every Tuesday. She was a family person, especially with her grandchildren. She loved Bingo also. For several years she chaired the St.Patricks Day dinner at St.Ignatius Church in St.Ignace ,a large job and the main fund raiising for the St.Anns Altar Society. Ruth was a caring person, and lived for the future, not the past according to her family. She is survived by her family; Debbie (Rick) Weiss, St.Ignace; Kathy (Keith) Baker, Curtis; Mary (Wayne) Peterson, Moran; Brent Wartella., Garden,MI; Wade Wartella, Watersmeet, MI; Step children; Mary Jo (John) Wlodyga, Grass Lake; Kathy Orlich, Chelsea; Denise (Ed) Palmer, Northville; Theresa Orlich, Northville; Barb (Utz) Krause, Howell; Daniel Orlich, Grass Lake; Thomas (Joy) Orlich, Northville; Elaine Orlich, South Lyon; brother, Howard (Charlotte) Everson, St.Ignace; sister, Lois Ann Marshall, Marquette; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Butler, in 1999, and a brother, David in 1976. Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, January 30 at 11 am at Immaculate Conception Church in Moran. Friends may call at the church from 10 until service time. Fr. Frank Ricca will officiate. Memorials may be directed to the EUP Hospice or The Road to Recovery, with envelopes available from Dodson Funeral Home who assisted with arrangements. Burial of her ashes will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in the spring.
