Ronald Alan Knox Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ronald “Ron” Alan Knox, age 72, of Pickford, Michigan, died on June 2, 2022, at MyMichigan Health Center in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. He was born on October 9, 1949, in Oakland, California, to Pierce Edward and Dorothy Jean (Hensley) Knox. Ron grew up in Castro Valley, California, and graduated from a local high school. He joined the United States Navy in 1970, as an aviation electronic technician. After his return, he began his family and attended college and began working for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) before becoming a real estate appraiser. He met Patricia “Patsy” Ann McKenzie and they married on January 1, 2001. After twenty-five years as an appraiser Ron retired and became a school bus driver for Sonora High School. He absolutely loved being the bus driver and retired in 2012. In the summer of 2001, they began visiting the Eastern Upper Peninsula every summer. Ron was welcomed by all in Patsy's family and the community. Ron loved that he finally gained a huge family. Ron was a member of the American Legion, Pickford’s Historical Society, and Kiwanis. He loved fly fishing, researching genealogy, and welding: making many things for his family and friends or working with them to fix anything. He was a social butterfly and became someone special to everyone he met. Ron is survived by his wife, Patsy Knox; mother and father-in-law, Duncan and Edith McKenzie of Sonora, California; son, Richard (Melinda) Knox of Grass Valley, California; daughter, Michelle (Joseph) Ruiz of Sacramento, California; grandchildren, Calisto, Amado, Aubree, Tyler, and Joey; sister-in-law, Penny (Jim) Kay of Santa Barbara, California; brother-in-law, Ricky (Gigi) McKenzie of Sonora, California; niece, Kacey (Logan) Jeremy of Hobbs, New Mexico; nephew, Tate (Kristy) McKenzie of Manteca, California; and many beloved adopted cousins. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Pierce and Dorothy Knox; and brother, Roger Knox. There will be no services at this time.
