William James Letson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

William James Letson, age 86, of Goetzville, Michigan, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was born January 25, 1930, in Marquette, Michigan. Bill moved to DeTour as a child and graduated from DeTour High School. He lived most of his adult life in Goetzville. As a young man he worked on road construction where he was proud to say he mixed the first asphalt that was laid on M-48 in Goetzville. He later worked at Drummond Dolomite Quarry for many years until he retired. Bill was an active member and willing volunteer at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Goetzville. Bill loved driving his tractor which he took to the grocery store for supplies and to plow and blow snow for many friends and neighbors. He also kept the 9 & 10 television tower driveway clear of snow for many years. Bill enjoyed gardening. Most of all, he loved to visit with friends and was an excellent host to anyone who stopped by his home. Bill is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Franklin Raymond of Wakefield, Michigan and by four grandchildren, Frank Jr., Angela, Thomas, and Dean Raymond. He was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Mae Letson. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 7, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Goetzville. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery next to the church in Goetzville. R. Galer Funeral Home in Pickford, Michigan is serving the family.
